The Savanna Hawk is a large raptor found in the open savanna and swamps It is 46-51 cm in length and has a rufous body with grey mottling above and fine black barring below. The legs are yellow. The savanna hawk feeds on lizards, snakes, crabs and small mammals. This photograph was taken in Moto Grosso in Brazil. August 2017
Though classified as a falcon, the Crested Caracara is often considered a scavenger . It inhabits most of South America and eats almost anything from insects, fish, baby caiman to carrion. They are often seen in the company of vultures competing with them for food. This photograph was shot in the state of Mato Grosso on the Transpantaneira road. August 2017
