Chapel Bridge in Lucerne
The Chapel bridge and water tower on the river Reuss are landmarks of Lucerne that one cannot miss. Dating back to the 14th century, this is probably the oldest wooden bridge in Switzerland. The uniqueness of this covered bridge is the old paintings under the roof.
The Chapel Bridge and water tower were originally parts of the medieval city ramparts of Lucerne and the bridge led directly to St Peters Chapel after which it is named. The water tower once served as a dungeon.
